Thanksgiving, Canadian Style!

Today is Thanksgiving, in Canada!! I had my dinner last night, but technically it is today. A little Thanksgiving history: originally Thanksgiving was celebrated by various First Nations in Canada. It was celebrated to give thanks for the successful bounty of crops. Many organized harvest festivals and ceremonial dances. Since 1879 Thanksgiving has been observed every year, but the date was proclaimed annually and changed. Thanksgiving currently is every second Monday in October.
Thanksgiving today, is a time to be thankful for everything that we have and to eat incredibly delicious meals. Which is where the food portion of my blog expertise comes in!
One of the delectable foods that we gorge on is the mouth watering turkey. Sitting in the kitchen socializing with family, and the MOMENT your nose gets a whiff of that turkey smell...it's all over...our stomach starts to growl and our mouth waters waiting for a taste of the tender and delicious turkey. Also, mashed potatoes. Personally, this is my favourite. The soft, velvety, buttery sensation in your mouth is AMAZING. Stuffing is also a key portion to the Thanksgiving meal. It includes dried bread cubes (like croutons, but soft) spices (depends on your taste buds) and various vegetables, such as corn, onion, peas etc. Various vegetables are put on the table such as corn, carrots, squash, and peas. The warm and savory taste of gravy on your food tops everything off deliciously. Dessert time is just as good as the rest of the meal. It is all about the pies. Apple pie, Pumpkin pie, Blueberry pie, Strawberry Rhubarb pie, you name it, the store has it.
I have to say Thanksgiving is one of the best meals that I will have all year, it is also one of the meals that almost every Canadian looks forward too. I hope everyone had an amazing and appetizing Thanksgiving this year!
GOBBLE GOBBLE!!
